FAQ

I want you and your horse to have a stress free and fun experience during our photo session together. How much you prepare yourself and your horse is completely up to you but there are some suggestions that may help you along.

Having your horse and tack as clean as possible truly makes a difference in the final outcome of your photos. For the horse I would suggest doing what you would normally do for an upcoming show. For example, clipped, clean, polished hooves, and makeup.

For yourself, you’re welcome to bring any outfit of your choice from formal wear to even show attire if you choose, although I would encourage dressing for the weather and anyway that makes you feel most comfortable.

What should I do to prepare?

There are multiple payment options. Payment by cash, paypal, venmo, cashapp, apple pay, or zelle is preferred and must be paid in full immediately following the end of the session.

How should I pay?

The best light is early mornings and late evenings so expect to be rising early or possibly going to bed late depending on the session.

Background is very important in these sessions, but so is keeping the horse comfortable and safe. Open fields, forested areas, back country roads, or beautiful rustic barns all make for great locations, however I am flexible if you have a particular place that you would like to be photographed. Keep in mind that your horse will be with you and that they need to feel safe in the environment you choose to put them in.

When and Where?

Yes! I encourage you to share your photos. All sessions include digital images with watermarks for social media purposes that are considered proofs. Credit is not required but often appreciated. For Facebook feel free to credit SunDance Photography or @sundance.photos for Instagram.

Can I post to social media?

All images are carefully retouched to perfection so don’t worry about small blemishes or a little dirt on the horses nose as that can be taken out. However, this will not completely clean a messy background or a dirty horse. Event sessions often have busy backgrounds and may have other contestants in the background that won’t be taken out, but if you see something minor that you would like to have retouched feel free to ask and I will happily work on it. Please keep in mind that the more there is to retouch, the longer it will take to receive your photos, and may result in additional charges. I take pride in the work create and want you to be happy with every single photo presented in your session.

Can you retouch this?

Liberty shots are possible at your own discretion. You know your horse the best and will know weather they can handle posed or action shots in the location of the shoot. For running action shots, a fenced in area is highly recommended and for posed shots a rope halter or a thin bridle is preferred for retouching purposes.

Are liberty shots possible?

My job is to cater to my equine clients as a full service photographer. What this means is that I provide everything from the consultation to the hard tangible prints that are displayed on your wall. I’ve often met people who ask for digital files and then never actually do anything with their images or they go to a non-professional printing house that unfortunately ruins the image with poor quality printing techniques. Therefore, I ensure high quality professional prints from my business, however will grant printing rights for third party printing houses, at clients discretion.

Do you provide printing rights?

Digitals are included in every session package and will be sent with my logo on them for social media use only. An additional folder with larger files for printing purposes will also be sent to you via weTransfer.com. This set of images will exclude my logo. You will receive your images through an email with a link to a personalized online gallery where you can download the files straight to your computer. Completion of images depends on the type of session, but feel free to inquire. Prints purchased through me will be carefully packaged and shipped straight to your doorstep.

How will I get my images?

Yes! Prints and canvas can be purchased at anytime, you can take your time to decide on what images you’d like printed. You can purchase from multiple print sizes starting at a 4x6. Purchases can be made directly from your gallery. If there are other options that you want to explore, such as albums or wall art, feel free to inquire.

Can I order prints and canvas?

Yes. Often we find gorgeous locations and timeless backdrops that really carry the theme of the session along. However permission to be on the property must be granted by the owner prior to the photo session. I want to be respectful of the owners land as not everyone appreciates horse hooves or droppings on their property. If you choose a location that does not normally allow horses like a public beach or state park, permission by a state or land management official needs to be granted.

Does the themed location session have to be horse approved?
